2009 Award Winners

A key highlight from the Friends’ 2009 annual dinner included the presentation of awards. The Friends’ Carlson-Minge Award was given to Ron Nargang. Nargang was selected for, among other things, his leadership role in working with the Minnesota River Basin Citizen Advisory Committee. At the time the advisory committee was in operation, Nargang was the Deputy Commissioner of Natural Resources in the Carlson Administration.

The Friends’ Elaine Mellott Award was presented to Dee Czech, a citizen leader heavily involved in and largely responsible for the success of our Community Clean-Ups for Water Quality in Arlington.

Our Leadership in Stewardship Award was jointly awarded to Rahr Malting Company and the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community for their collaboration on Koda Energy, LLC, a biomass-fueled power plant located near Shakopee.
